Big Boys' Toys: The Thrill Of Heavy Construction Equipment

Are Your Truck Seats Bad For Your Drivers?

If some of your truck drivers complain of aches and pains or have started to take time off work with back or neck issues, then you need to find out what's going on. If you can't find an obvious reason why your drivers have problems, then you may want to look at your trucks' seats. How can seats affect drivers and what can you do about it?

Seats and Driver Pain

You may think that truck seats work on a one-size-fits-all principle, but this isn't necessarily true. Your drivers aren't all the same height, build and weight, and some may find that sitting in a regular static truck seat makes them uncomfortable.

Over time, this discomfort can turn into pain and even injuries to the neck and back, especially if your drivers are regularly behind the wheel for long stretches of time. Plus, driving large construction trucks also exposes your drivers to more vibration. Bouncing around while you're driving isn't good for your body either.

While these issues won't affect all your drivers, it may affect some. Given that some of your workers may be so badly affected that they can't work, you may want to switch things round to make things more comfortable for everyone.

The Benefits of Ergonomic Truck Seats

If you switch regular truck seats for ones with ergonomic benefits, then you reduce the risk that drivers get aches and pains that develop into more serious health issues. These seats give a better ride – they are designed to make truck driving more comfortable. They are also designed to adjust so that all your drivers benefit.

For example, ergonomic truck seats increase comfort levels by using padding and supports on their backrests and seats that support lumber areas more effectively. This makes driving easier on the back. Many also have adjustable parts, like backrests, cushions, shoulders and height and tilt controls. Drivers can position the seat to suit them individually.

To compensate for vibrations, you can also buy truck seats with built-in shock absorbers. These seats often use air suspension systems that make seats deal with vibrations rather than passing them all through to drivers.

Switching to truck seats with ergonomic benefits will make your drivers happy. If this reduces the number of seat-related sick days you have, then your company also profits. To find out more about the types of seats you could use, contact local truck seat suppliers.

About Me

Big Boys' Toys: The Thrill Of Heavy Construction Equipment

Hey there. I’m Dennis Shaw. I’m a vet who has become an accidental fan of heavy equipment. When my son was younger, he only played with construction machinery toys. He had dozens of bulldozers, cranes, graders, and excavators. You can imagine his excitement when we were driving along and encountered a real-life piece of equipment in action! His excitement was quite infectious, and I found myself getting a thrill too. For his birthday, I would always take him to a construction equipment expo, so that we could check out the shiny new models. Now, he has almost finished school and plans to obtain various tickets to operate equipment. I know that I can’t be the only accidental fan of heavy construction equipment. If you find yourself similarly enthralled , I hope that you can enjoy this corner of the web.
