Big Boys' Toys: The Thrill Of Heavy Construction Equipment

All You Should Know About Forklift Training Courses

Do you wish to work in logistics and materials handling or any other industry that involves driving a forklift truck? You will need a forklift licence first. That means you will have to undertake a forklift training course. However, it's imperative to understand that there are strict rules when it comes to forklift training. That's because of the level of safety needed when operating such trucks. Therefore, before you enrol in a forklift training course, read this first.

You Cannot Take the Training in Any Training School/Organisation

You can only take your forklift training course in a registered training organisation. These are established institutions that follow the rules and guidelines for working with trucks. Therefore, be extremely careful when enrolling in a forklift training organisation. Ask for proof that it's a registered training organisation first. You can also conduct your own research on the various registered training organisations in the country. Fortunately, there are plenty of these across the country, so you shouldn't have a problem finding one regardless of where you are in the country.

There Are Two Major Forklift Training Courses

It's important that you choose the right forklift training course because they are not the same. The training you receive will determine the kind of forklift truck you will be licensed to drive. The first class of forklift training is for a forklift truck licence. With this licence, you will be able to drive counterbalanced forklift trucks, truck-mounted forklift trucks, reach forklift trucks, all-terrain forklift trucks, and side loading forklift trucks. The second class of forklift training will allow you to be licensed to drive order picking forklift trucks. You can also drive a turret truck with this licence. Therefore, evaluate your needs carefully and choose the ideal course for you.

You Need to Provide Proof of Identity

Before you are accepted for a forklift training course and eventually applying for a licence, you need to provide proof of identity. Usually, the evidence of identity must score a given number of points, which you will be told at the time of enrolment. The points are awarded based on the identity documents you provide. Primary documents that can earn you the highest points include your birth certificate, birth card, passport whether current or expired, and diplomatic certificates. Secondary documents include your driver's licence and public employee card. You can also provide other identification documents such as the office record of your land title, notice of council rate, credit cards, bank records, and marriage certificates. The more of all these documents you have the better.

About Me

Big Boys' Toys: The Thrill Of Heavy Construction Equipment

Hey there. I’m Dennis Shaw. I’m a vet who has become an accidental fan of heavy equipment. When my son was younger, he only played with construction machinery toys. He had dozens of bulldozers, cranes, graders, and excavators. You can imagine his excitement when we were driving along and encountered a real-life piece of equipment in action! His excitement was quite infectious, and I found myself getting a thrill too. For his birthday, I would always take him to a construction equipment expo, so that we could check out the shiny new models. Now, he has almost finished school and plans to obtain various tickets to operate equipment. I know that I can’t be the only accidental fan of heavy construction equipment. If you find yourself similarly enthralled , I hope that you can enjoy this corner of the web.
